One year later and our cities/county have done nothing to implement an early warning system.

How about the idea of taking personal responsibility and purchase a weather radio. I have lived in areas where the sirens go off and they are pretty much just ignored. If they do decide to install them, no one will want one in their backyards. I just believe the weather radios, with the pin point weather radars we have now, is a better option.

You must have not had yours on that frightful day. It gave a warning for the Northwest Rutherford county to Sam Ridley intersection of 24 not out my backdoor off of Haynes. My cell phone stopped working 5 minutes before it passed. Sirens save lives, not water parks and tennis courts!

The sirens are tied in to the weather warning system, if the warnings were for Northwest Rutherford, that is where the sirens would sound. No system is perfect, even if our goverment provides it!

I've lived in a city with weather sirens. They are pretty much useless. Unless you are VERY close to them, you cannot hear them inside of a well-sealed house. Sirens also don't tell where a storm is or where its going. TV and radio are much better ways to be aware of threatening storms.
