It would be nice if neighborhood watch directors or storm spotters, or some of those directly affected by this tragedy be allowed to attend...I personally went thru both County & City Citizens Police Academies & also certified/ CPR first aide and Cert Team responder. I witnessed several things that day, that could have used some improvement, or rather at least some advice. I live on the South End off 231 and there was a small tornado that dropped down off County Farm Road. Had it not been for me to take initiative and go around the neighbor and acess the damge, some may not have gotten quicker help with live sparking power lines in the street and several trees down on homes or huge ones taken out with massive roots. All the attention was given to the north end that day and rightly so, given the massive destruction there, but for the others who encounter damage south of there kinda felt forgotten. One elederly lady that I stopped to check on, couldn't thank me enough for what I did for her. She had no one..she lives alone and a huge tree fell from her yard onto an adjacent home.

Ijust feel like that if you are going to start some kind of round table thing...it is us, the citizens who should be the best ones to come forward and voice their ideas, after who better than someone who lost their home get blown away in seconds.

It is amazing how there are/

It would be nice if he would have added people from Rutherford Co. Civil Defense and Rutherford County Emergency Management since this is where the tornados were the most destructive. Just goes to show you how government minds work, usually not at all.

I read in that "other paper" that all these folks will discuss how technology can improve warnings before and response times after a disaster. I believe the Mayor said their looking to set up some kind of reverse 911 system to send out alerts (through text messaging capabilities maybe?) that will alert people to disasters (sorta similar to the one at MTSU). If they do that, I hope they get their text messages out faster than MTSU. They sent an alert about the tornado 30 minutes after it touched down.

Let's be honest about this round table discussion. It will accomplish very little other than "feel good" publicity for our representative to the Congress. In his next newsletter and future letters to the editors (Post and DNJ) accolades of accomplishments will be spoken, but in reality, very little will have been done.
