SMYRNA - Rep. Bart Gordon issued the following statement on the new Nissan lithium-ion battery plant’s ground-breaking in Smyrna:

“I want to congratulate Nissan on the ground-breaking of its new battery plant. This project will create hundreds of jobs and help put Tennessee on the front lines of an industry that is projected to grow exponentially as we shift toward a green energy economy. Its impact will be felt for years to come in Smyrna and throughout Middle Tennessee.

I also applaud Nissan on its ongoing commitment to energy efficiency in both its products and its industrial practices. Finding ways to cut down on our dependence on foreign oil is essential to our national security and our economic growth. Nissan demonstrates that it can also be a cornerstone of commercial success.

This project has been a perfect storm of corporate leadership, local support and federal investment. I look forward to lending support to more projects like it that bring high-tech, high-paying industry jobs to Middle Tennessee.”

Is there anything Bart Gordon won't take credit for. Not to mention he wasn't even there.
