GET Cameras on the buses !!!!!! ASAP!!!

I say we just close down the schools and save the taxpayers money. All we hear is how much more money we need for more schools, more teachers, now cameras for the buses, etc.
Funny thing is I have two children the age of this poor girl and younger and we were never even notified by the school's emergency system!
We need to let discipline by adults, public prayer back into our schools, and kick the thugs I DON'T CARE HOW YOUNG out the these school's and enforce the (so called) zero tolerance policy to the fullest extent.
And as for these parents whose kids do these kinds of things, well we should be wasting our tax dollars of holding them accountable serving time, mandatory parenting classes or something.
Are my kids perfect, by no means, but if they did something half as bad as this, they get their butts worn out!!
If we do nothing to protect or family and kids no one else will.
Here's another classic example of spare the rod spoil the child!!!

So when claims like this are made. Is there any kind of home study done? Really, it is not "normal" behavior of a third and fourth grader.

Obe1- Don't worry I'm sure those boys will get their "butts beat" and then they'll really be looking for someone smaller and weaker to take their anger out on. I'd guess that they already are spanked and probably frequently.
FYI Studies show that schools that don't paddle have lower dropout rates and higher graduation rates and higher ACT scores.
Eight of the top ten paddling states are in the top ten states with the highest incarceration rates.
Poor children, minorities, children with disabilities and boys are hit more frequently in schools, sometimes at 2-5 times the rate of other children.
Corporal punishment has been abolished in more than 100 nations of the world.
Corporal punishment teaches children that violence is a way to solve problems.Research shows that this message is taught to those who inflict pain, those who receive it, and those who witness it.
Corporal punishment of children is related to decreased internalization of moral rules, increased aggression, more antisocial behavior, increased criminality, decreased mental health outcomes, increased adult abusive behaviors, and increased risk of being victimized by abusive relationships in adulthood.
Corporal punishment reinforces physical aggression as an acceptable and effective means of eliminating unwanted behavior in our society.
There is overwhelming evidence that harsh interventions are damaging to children, both emotionally and physically. The effects of such trauma may be compounded when a child has preexisting learning difficulties. When schools respond to these challenges using harsh methods, children can be further traumatized.
Back to the subject -The busses that transport mixed ages of children should have the youngest sit at the front to the oldest at the back. There should be another adult on the bus monitoring the students so the driver can drive.
Spare the rod, Save a Psyche!

Murfreesboro City Schools banned corporal punishment a few years ago.

I agree with Paused. It is not normal behavior for a 3rd or 4th grader or for any child for that matter. They may be victims themselves.
Let's pray that everyone involved gets the help they need to heal, and not hold hatred and resentment in their hearts.
You can't go wrong with the saying "What would Jesus do?"
Other also made a good point. The youngest should be up front at all times. I know that our bus driver always has them up front.

I agree with the statement “spare the rod spoil the child” However I do not condone hitting or spanking a child.
My interpretation of “spare the rod....” is that punishment must be enforced, swift and sure and in our modern culture of “it’s not my fault” punishment is not happening. When schools try and punish children they are accused of racism, targeting, over reaction, poor administration, bad teachers and on and on. I had no idea that following rules, expected moral codes of conduct, and societal norms could be “poor administration, bad teachers, racism”. It’s only getting worse and worse until one day we are going to have 3rd and 4th graders sexually assaulting kindergartners.
The parents need to be held responsible, the parents need a psychological evaluation paid for out of their pocket, and the children need a psychological exam to find out how did they learn this activity? But just you watch, the old “it’s not my fault....bad teachers.....bus driver....no camera on the bus” will get the responsibility.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking for an excuses for these boys. It just seems like to me a in home study MIGHT make the families of these two boys more accountable.

According to the DNJ there are 200(ish)busses in Rutherford County. 50(ish) have cameras. The Board of Educations is stating that the budget is allowing 10 busses each year to have cameras installed.
So by the time these grade school kids (15 years from now) have kids, Rutherford County school busses should all have cameras...as long as there is no need for new busses.
And since there seems to be no push to put adult moderators on the busses until cameras are installed...the Rutherford County school children are just SOL.

Justdance- They have to "consider" whether or not there will be enough money in the budget to give all those "coordinators" another big raise next year if they spend too much on the safety of our children. Get cameras on these buses and hold parents accountable for not teaching their children how to behave in school and on the buses.

Idea...what if we were to ask parents of bus student to make a contribution for camera on the bus their child rides. I bet that many parents would make a donation for a camera for the safety of their child. If the county buys the camera, does the county own the camera and it must be returned if the driver quits driving for the county? What about the city schools...the buses are owned by the city...do they all have cameras that are operational ?
