The Webb School Parents’ Association (WSPA) is inviting everyone to “Get Away to Gilligan’s Island,” an auction and dinner event set for Nov. 6 at the Stones River Country Club in Murfreesboro.
Net proceeds benefit The Webb School in Bell Buckle, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit independent college preparatory school for grades 6-12.
Guests are encouraged to embrace the island theme, based on the 1960s TV sitcom “Gilligan’s Island,” and come dressed as one of the seven island castaways: Gilligan; the Skipper; the millionaire, Thurston Howell III and his wife; Mary Anne; the professor; or “the movie star,” Ginger.
The event begins at 6 p.m. with a silent auction, followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m. and a live auction at 9 p.m.
“The great thing about our auction is the wide variety of items we have,” said Auction Chairperson and Webb School parent Peggy Steele of Smyrna. “We’ve always been so fortunate to receive a number of donations. They can range in price from $20 to thousands of dollars, so there’s always something for everyone.”

According to Steele, the fundraising event raised roughly $64,000 in net profit last year for the school. The funds are largely used to supplement faculty and staff salaries,
but have also assisted with facility needs at the Bell Buckle campus, such as exterior lighting. Sponsorships are available and auction donations are welcome.
