A wide array of new styles is hitting the shelves this season, but don’t get overwhelmed.
Belk Inc. Fashion Director Arlene Goldstein tells shoppers to shop in their closets first, and then go forward.
Look for investment pieces that will last – think fitted lacey blazers instead of comfy cardigans – and pair them with existing skinny jeans or leggings.
“Taking pieces you already have and layering them with very long lengths (creates) a variety of options,” Goldstein said.
Local boutique owner Judy Goldie urges her customers to give styles a try.
Replace “Oh, I can’t wear that,” with “Let’s give it a try,” says the Trendy Pieces and Bella’s Boutique owner.
“The key is not to rule anything out,” she said. “The worst that can happen is that you go on to the next thing.”
Goldie also pointed out that bright colors and new fashions can be worn now – don a short dress underneath a wrap with leggings or add life to an outfit with a new scarf.
“You can get the look, but still feel like you’re appropriately dressed for the weather,” she said. “People are in the mood to brighten up their lives a little bit, so start with a pop of color in your wardrobe.” |
