He was a native of Rutherford County and was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Lester and step-mother, Melvie Lester. Mr. Lester was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and retired from Home Roofing. 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elodia Lester, children, Perry Lester and wife Jane of Murfreesboro, Shirley Young and husband, John of Murfreesboro, George Lester and wife Shannon of Murfreesboro, Marty Lester and Fiancé Shanda Meadows of Smyrna; grandchildren, Tonya, Adam, Kim, Bobby, John Jr., Tiffany, Jennie, Emily, George “Bubba”, Devin, Brandon, and Maleia; great-grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, Iceeiz, Catarena, Immanuel, Cheyanne.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jack Woods and Rev. Dave Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Coleman Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
