Future of Green jobs topic of December conference in Nashville

The Tennessee Alliance for Progress’s Compass Conference VI on Green Jobs is coming Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4 and 5 to the Cohn Adult Learning Center in Nashville.

The Green jobs conference brings together grassroots activists, labor, environmental and economic justice organizations, green businesses, government officials, concerned citizens, and youth from around Tennessee who want to rescue our economy and save the environment by creating family-supporting, career-track green jobs.

National speakers will include:
• Green for All,
• Apollo Alliance and
• PolicyLink.

Green Opportunities youth graduates will be featured Saturday along with a performance by Youth Speaks-Nashville, as part of Youth Track.

On Friday, Dec. 4, networking and panel sessions will be held for individuals and organizations, who are working to bring green jobs to their communities.

TAP seeks to bring together key green jobs as "pathways out of poverty" players to create a strategy plan in support of a Green Jobs Corps in Tennessee.

Saturday, Dec. 5 will be People’s Day at Compass VI with speakers, workshops, films, music, poetry and other activities centered around the movement for green jobs in Tennessee to educate and inspire the public and our allies about the green jobs movement nationally and locally.

Youth 18-24 get free admission on Saturday, Dec. 5. Click here to register for the conference. There is a $10 discount on registration before Nov. 27.
