Fundraising gala to be held Friday

Friends and colleagues will join together to roast former state Rep. John Hood at the The City Schools Foundation’s fifth annual Excellence in Education Gala at 7 p.m. Friday at Stones River Country Club.

This year’s Hollywood style celebrity roast offers an enjoyable evening full of community spirit, laughter and good will. Community roasters include Ed Barlow, Dan Whittle, Lana Seivers and Bob Mifflin. Event Chair Andy Womack will emcee the  eveningʼs activities.

Reservations for the gala are still available including individual tickets at $250 and sponsorship tables of eight at $2,500. Through active support and participation, the gala has grown significantly in size and stature, providing funding for teacher grants and parity dollars benefiting the diverse population of students that comprise Murfreesboro City Schools.

Past gala honorees include Rhea Seddon and “Hoot” Gibson, Gloria and Ted LaRoche, Joyce Taylor and former U.S. Rep. Bart Gordon.
