A La Vergne man who fled before being convicted of attempted murder Thursday remains on the lam, a sheriff’s fugitive squad deputy said.

Convict Robert Lee Adams, also known as Tracy Greer, 36, of La Vergne, walked away before jurors returned their verdict convicting him of attempted murder of Darise Brown. Adams was free on bond and not in custody during the trial.

Brown testified previously Bryant Overton shot her but Adams and two other women were present Dec. 16, 2007 during the attempted murder Dec. 16, 2007 on Beesley Road in the Blackman community. Brown crawled with her elbows for help. Overton is serving a 60-year sentence.

Officers Jack Keisling and Randy Morrow of the sheriff’s Fugitive Squad were searching for Adams.

People who have information about Adams’ whereabouts are asked to call Keisling at the Fugitive Tip Line at 904-3030.

The jury convicted Adams Thursday on charges of attempted first-degree murder, especially aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery and conspiracy. Due to his serious prior felony record he might face a life sentence.

When he didn’t show up, Circuit Court Judge David Bragg issued a capias warrant for his arrest.

Adams has been in touch with his attorney, Kirk Catron, but because of attorney-client privilege, Catron said he couldn’t disclose information.
