Murfreesboro Police responded to Middle Tennessee Boulevard near Old Samsonite Road to investigate a serious injury crash involving two vehicles around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

After a preliminary investigation, Fatal Accident Crash Team (F.A.C.T.) investigators believe a vehicle traveling West on Middle Tennessee Boulevard failed to negotiate a curve and went into the oncoming lane of traffic. 

A second vehicle, operated by Khamin Vongpanya, was traveling East on Middle Tennessee Blvd. when the other vehicle entered his travel lane and struck his vehicle.  

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene by Rutherford County EMS. The driver’s name is being withheld until family can be notified.

Vongpanya was transported to Middle Tennessee Medical Center by RCEMS and was treated for minor injuries and released.   

The Fatal Accident Crash Team is currently investigating the crash.
