Freedom Fair strives to be non-partisan

The upcoming Rutherford County Tea Party known as “Freedom Fair on the Square” is committed to remaining non-partisan.

Many liberal and media groups have claimed that the national Tea Party movement is financially supported by a variety of political organizations such as Republicans, Libertarians and independents. Recent national polls refute these accusations.

A recent Gallup Poll of 1,033 respondents reveals that Tea Partiers are dramatically average.

According to the poll when added together the percentage of Democrats and Independents out pace Republican Tea Partiers 51 percent to 49 percent.

This same Gallup Poll discovered that there is nothing fringe about self-proclaimed Tea Party adherents; they are slightly more likely to be employed, male and definitely more conservative.

But otherwise Gallup's Lydia Saad writes, "their age, educational background, employment status, and race – Tea Partiers are quite representative of the public at large."

Recent reports from local and national sources report that infiltration groups such as Crashtheparty.com will attempt to disrupt and misrepresent upcoming Tea Party events to the media by pretending to be Tea Partiers and making bigoted, racist or threatening statements.

Freedom Fair on the Square organizer, Mishelle Perkins, reaffirms the events’ commitment to being fair, balanced and conservative.

“We have seen disruptions from anti-Tea Party groups before and while we hope to conduct our event peacefully, we are prepared to ask any person or group that causes problems to exit our event so that we can practice our First Amendment right without being misrepresented,” she said.

The “Freedom Fair on the Square” organizing group consists of more than two-dozen local citizens that come from many walks of life. From retirees, to home school moms to business owners and blue-collar workers all are committed to promoting limited and Constitutional government at every level.

The Tea Party event Friday, April 16 has not received any financial or moral support from any political party or candidate. Therefore the Freedom Fair confidently states that it is simply a Patriotic forum focused on educating and organizing citizens for the purpose of practicing their Constitutional rights as Americans.

Local candidates who are on the April 20 ballot in the Murfreesboro City election will have the unique opportunity to speak to thousands of enthusiastic tea partiers at the April 16 Tea Party in Murfreesboro. All candidates were invited.

The “Freedom Fair on the Square” Tea Party will begin at 5pm on Friday and feature 1510am WLAC’s Steve Gill as the main speaker as well as other speakers such as Ken Marrero, Bill Warner, William Gheen and Matt Collins. Over a dozen freedom-loving organizations will also be on hand to engage attendees about their particular areas of interest such as Illegal Immigration, Political Activism and Second Amendment Rights.

Food and patriotic music will be available which makes this an event that is fun for the whole family. Additionally, over a dozen local businesses and civic organizations have committed to display at the Tea Party.

This makes me laugh. "Two dozen" people. Woo hoo. A whole 24 people.

So how many union thugs are sending over to crash it? You progressives are trying to make the tea partiers look bad to the media. These freedom people are making you socialists scared.

This article is VERY deceptive. here's a true breakdown of the gallup poll referenced herein: http://www.perrspectives.com/blog/archives/001820.htm
------------
49% Rep - 8% Dem - 43% Ind ;
70% Conservative- 22% Moderate, 7% Liberal.

this is a mouthpiece for right wing extremists and nothing more. here's the thing too, the tea parties were about taxation without representation. they are OVER represented in congress, especially considering the senate's 2 votes per state. And as for the taxes, find me a place that taxes you less you'd live? I'm still waiting. That's right, Mexico, Korea, and Turkey. Japan's tied. All others are taxed higher. And the South is the least-taxed part of this nation!

If Steve Gill is the main speaker, how can you call it nonpartison. He tells middle class and poor people that sales tax are fairer for them. His math skills are very poor or he is a liar. I believe the latter to be the truth.

The rugged individual used to be a celebrated part of the American Experiment. To the new Democrat/progressive party the person who makes his own way in this world and overcomes all obstacles is now demonized. The greatest thing about the Fair Tax is that it rewards those who do for themselves, be it work or ingenuity. Or simply planting a garden and fending for ones own.

The rugged individual was nice, and so was the Model T and technicolor, but we live in more complex times. Now that corporations are considered people and can fund campaigns and they pay less tax than ever, people can't do it alone. Why not return to the days of every man for himself and if you get sick after a lifetime of work or because of a sick child, then tough, you lose...free market!

Again, find me a place you'd live that's more "rugged." You can't. We are decades behind the rest of the world on these issues, but at least we're moving finally in the right direction.

Thank you, essequam & mtsufan08, for saying what needs to be said. I was starting to think I was alone in my thinking in this VERY red state...

It will be interesting to see which, if any, of the candidates for upcoming house races will show their face at this event. The tea party movement is made up of alot of folks who are scared that something good will come to this country lead by Pres. Obama. Get over it. If they are concerned about how their taxes are spent, they need to look no further than the courthouse.
