Stone, Frank W., age 90, was born March 5, 1919 in DeKalb County, Tennessee. He died at Middle Tennessee Medical Center on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 10:00 P.M. with his wonderful friend, Dorris Young, watching as the angels came to take him home to the loving care of Jesus.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Stone and Lucile Williams Stone; his devoted first wife and mother of his son, Ann Vandagriff Stone and his brother, James Stone. He is survived by his son, Lt. Col. Frank D. Stone, retired US Army and his wife Carol; three granddaughters, Melissa and Melanie Stone and Amy Stone Williams and husband, Mike; one great grandson, Luke Williams. He is also survived by his wife of 33 years, Marjorie Stone; one step-daughter, Brenda Reynolds; two step granddaughters, Robin (Tommy) Nation and Candy (Gary) Nation and five step great grandsons.
He honorably served in the United States Navy C.B.'s during World War II, followed by employment at the VA Hospital and retiring in 1974. Having inherited the talent of using a hammer, nail and saw from his maternal grandfather, he enjoyed building and remodeling. NHC Murfreesboro employed Frank at the age of 62 for building management. He worked 16 years without missing a day. Their perfect attendance award is named in his honor. His work ethic was beyond reproach.
Frank fought Colon Cancer the past three years; however, he died from a subdural hematoma. He went outside to feed the birds and fell to the ground, injuring his head.
