Frances Warden Moudy of Nashville, formerly of Murfreesboro, went home to be with the Lord on September 14, 2013. She was born in Beech Grove, TN in 1922, the daughter of the late Clarence Curlee Warden and Madaline Covington Warden. She is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Edward Moudy and a brother, Clarence “Jack” Warden, Jr.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Ann and Mike Allen of Nashville, Nancy and Tom Potter of Allardt, TN and Lynn and Randall Ferguson of Nashville. She adored her six grandchildren, Jay (Michelle) Ferguson, Dan (Heather) Ferguson, Emily Allen, Andrew Allen, Sarah Potter and Anna Potter, and her six great grandchildren Asher, Graham and Reilly Cate Ferguson, Jack and Caroline Ferguson and Hailey Gleaves; a nephew Mark (Elaine) Warden and a niece Gail (Brooke) Sykes.
Frances grew up in Manchester, TN. She attended Tennessee Tech University where she met her beloved Charlie. She then attended business school in Nashville, TN. She and Charlie married in 1945. Frances, along with her late husband, owned Moudy Drugs on the public square in downtown Murfreesboro before their retirement in 1984. Frances made sandwiches for the store, “Mrs. Moudy’s Sandwiches”, which are still requested in Murfreesboro.
Frances will be remembered for her hospitality and generosity. She was a communicant of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where she was a member of the altar guild which grew the flowers they arranged for church each Sunday. For many years, she baked homemade bread which she and Charlie delivered to everyone who visited the church. She knitted hundreds of baby caps for newborns at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, where she was recognized for her many hours of volunteer hours for the hospital.
Frances and Charlie were a wonderful example of a committed, Christian marriage to all of their children and grandchildren. They were devoted to family and friends and she will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4825 Trousdale Dr, Nashville, TN 37220.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, September 28, 2013 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with the Reverends James K. Polk Van Zandt and Colin Ambrose officiating. Visitation will be in the parish hall following the service.
