IRVING, Texas -- When the Cowboys drafted Erik Walden in the sixth round of the 2008 draft, they were hoping he would develop into a situational pass rusher/special teams player behind DeMarcus Ware. Now he is beating Ware out for the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week award. Signed by Green Bay mid-season, Walden recorded 16 tackles and picked up two sacks as the Packers clinched a playoff spot with a win over Chicago in the season finale. Ware had three sacks and returned a fumble for a touchdown against Philadelphia. Cowboy bias? Nah, I doubt it. Walden’s game was much more important.
