| Former Blackman High School teacher Warren Theodore Johnson III entered a guilty plea Monday in Circuit Court.
After receiving information, the sheriff’s office opened an investigation Oct. 25, 2010 against Johnson, 33, of Hartford Drive in Murfreesboro about alleged inappropriate and illegal sexual behavior, said lead investigator Detective Sgt. Mickey McCullough.
“He was very predatory, selective, calculating and consistent in the manner in which he would seduce, groom and convince each of the young ladies that he was in love with each and every one of them,” McCullough said.
Johnson seduced students with gifts, mix CDs, jewelry, handwritten notes and poetry, oral and written praise, and expressions of love, admiration and affection, the sergeant said.
“He also accomplished this through deception and lies, utilizing fictitious email accounts, user names and passwords and instructing the young ladies to do the same for secrecy,” McCullough said. “Finally, he was successful in convincing each of the young ladies that his marriage was horrific to gain their sympathy.”
Johnson worked as a teacher at Blackman High School from August 2001 until Oct. 27, 2010 when he resigned within hours of McCullough’s first conversation with him.
During the investigation, multiple victims and witnesses were interviewed and their statements collected, McCullough said. “Multiple subpoenas and search warrants have been written, issued and executed. The evidence collected has been voluminous.”
The investigation discovered Johnson was involved in illegal sexual behavior, illegal sexual solicitations both oral, handwritten and through electronic communications, text and email, contributing to the delinquency of minors and legal but inappropriate behavior with dozens of students. |
