| Football: Oakland, Smyrna play for playoffs |

Oakland entertains Smyrna in the weekly televised "Thursday Night Lights" game on WXUP (Comcast Channel 14) at 7 p.m. in a game where TSSAA standings will outshine the camera lights.
The game will also be broadcast by WGNS 1450AM.
Oakland is 7-2, Smyrna 5-4 going into the game but the key considertation is their standing in the TSSAA playoff race and either team can claim a berth tonight with a win. Tonight's loser could be in contention for a wild card berth. The wild card playoff entries will be determined Saturday afternoon.
Here's TSSAA analysis of the District 7AAA playoff race as the regular season comes to a close this week:
RIVERDALE; If Riverdale wins, they are a 1st place qualifier. If Blackman wins, they are a 2nd place qualifier.
BLACKMAN; If Blackman wins, they are a 1st place qualifier. If Riverdale wins and Smyrna wins, Blackman is a 2nd place qualifier. If Riverdale and Oakland
win, they are an automatic qualifier.
OAKLAND; If Oakland wins and Riverdale wins they are a 2nd place qualifier. If Oakland wins and Blackman wins, they are an automatic qualifier; othewise they may only qualify as a wild card.
SMYRNA; If Smyrna wins, they are automatic qualifier; othewise they may only qualify as a wild card.
SIEGEL; May only qualify as a wild card.
LA VERGNE; May only qualify as a wild card.
