Florence Evelyn MacKay, age 87, of Murfreesboro, passed away on February 9, 2012 at her home. She was a native of Danbury, Connecticut and lived in Danville, Illinois from 1963 to 1996 before moving to Rutherford County. Florence worked as a school teacher for 42 years, most of them in Danville, Illinois and taught Sunday School most of her life. She was a group leader at Bible Study Fellowship for 12 years.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents, John Mitchell and Cora Emma Benedict Mitchell; husband, William MacKay; and son, Todd MacKay. She is survived by her son, Terry (Debi) MacKay of Murfreesboro; and grandchildren, Matt MacKay, Cassie Oring and Justin MacKay.
A chapel service will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Pastor Jeff White officiating. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville, Illinois at a later time with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
