NASHVILLE – Ben Weatherford has joined the FirstBank team as Rutherford County president, and he will be responsible for overseeing the bank’s growing operations in Rutherford and Cannon counties.

“Middle Tennessee is an important market for us,” said Allen Oakley, FirstBank’s Middle Tennessee president. “Ben brings a wealth of market, customer and banking knowledge to help us achieve our strategic growth goals for this area.”

Weatherford, a Mississippi State University graduate, is actively involved in the community. He serves on the board of trustees for the Murfreesboro City Schools Foundation and the Linebaugh Library Foundation. A former member of the MTSU Foundation, Weatherford is a longtime supporter of and fundraiser for the Middle Tennessee Council of Boy Scouts.

“FirstBank is one of the premier community banks in the state with tremendous opportunity for growth,” Weatherford said. “I admire the FirstBank leadership team and look forward to making a difference in my hometown. The team and I are extremely excited about our new location opening later this summer on New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.”

Weatherford comes to FirstBank from Southern Community Bank, where he was city president and oversaw operations and growth of the Murfreesboro market. Prior to his tenure at Southern Community, Weatherford was president of MidSouth Bank in Murfreesboro. Weatherford has more than 25 years of banking experience in Tennessee.

Weatherford replaces Chuck Lewis, who retired at the end of the year after serving as FirstBank’s Murfreesboro city president for almost a decade.
