MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department responded to a fire at Redwood Park Apartments on South Rutherford Boulevard Saturday morning.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the apartment, according to Fire Department officials.

"They entered the unit and located the fire in a back bedroom," said Ashley McDonald, public information officer for the Fire Department.

Shift Commander Daryl Alexander said crews made entry and quickly extinguished the fire. The fire was contained to the bedroom.

“The door to that bedroom was shut,” Alexander said. “That helped keep it from spreading to other areas of the unit.”

No one was injured during the incident.

The occupants will be displaced, though, and assistance will be offered from the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. However, the Fire Marshal’s Office is en route to conduct a routine investigation.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
