Firearms stolen in two home burglaries

More than $7,600 worth of firearms was stolen from two residences, sheriff’s deputies reported Friday.

Victim Kitty Gilbert of Rock Springs Road near Smyrna reported someone stole her deceased husband’s gun collection since October from her home, Deputy Pat Garrett reported.

The firearms were hidden in the home. When she checked, she found the firearms missing. The collection included .44-caliber handguns, two 9mm handguns, two .357-Magnums, a .380-caliber handgun, a 44-Magnum and an AK-47.

Value was estimated at about $5,000.

In an unrelated case, Deputy Jeffrey VerBruggen reported burglars stole about $2,200 firearms from Paul Edward Odom of Richland-Richardson Road.

Firearms stolen included a .357-Magnum, three 12-gauge shotguns, a .22-rifle and a .22-Magnum.
