Fire caused about $100,000 damage to a home and burglars stole more than $18,000 worth of property from a storage shed Thursday, sheriff’s deputies reported Friday.
A stove fire apparently ignited the kitchen of Ricky Gipson’s home Thursday night on Factory Road off U.S. Highway 70 South (John Bragg Highway), Deputy Mark Gregory reported. Flames spread to the second floor and attic.
Most of the damage was confined to the kitchen, the deputy reported. The remainder of the house sustained heavy smoke damage.
Kittrell Volunteer Fire Department firefighters extinguished the blaze.
In another case, burglars stole machinery and tools from an outbuilding owned by William M. Brown Jr. of King Road near Milton, Deputy Anthony Hall reported.
Items missing included a $13,600 John Deere diesel mower and a Snap On roller tool cab valued at $1,500. Other property stolen included a $2,000 tool set, car stereo amp, air compressor, Craftsman battery charger, air hoses, shop vac, chain saw, weed trimmer, pressure washer, grease gun, drill and press, ramp, motorcycle jack, tools, clothes, ammunition, custom wheels and tires, file cabinet, router and tile saw.
