A fire that erupted at a quadruplex Friday morning in the 1200 block of Wenlon Drive is believed to have started accidentally inside a storage area, according to a Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department press release.

The preliminary investigation results suggest the fire started in the utility closet of the home and appears accidental, officials said.

As is customary, the Fire Marshal's Office is conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.

The Fire Department responded to the blaze just before 6 a.m.

Upon arrival, there was heavy black smoke coming from the front door of the unit. Fire crews made sure all residents of the unit and surrounding units were evacuated. They then pulled handlines and extinguished the fire inside. Engine 1 responded to assist with ventilation of the home.

No one was injured during this incident.

The fire was contained to the utility closet and kitchen area of the unit. There was moderate smoke and water damage in the home. Another unit also received minor smoke and water damage.

The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced by the fire.
