The Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department honored employees at the second annual Years of Service Awards presentation Sept. 20 at Patterson Park Community Center.
The Fire Department added two new categories to this year’s presentation: 10 and 15 years of service.
The Years of Service Awards Committee designed a special Challenge Coin for these honors. Personnel with 10-14 years of service received a 10-year Challenge Coin and personnel with 14-19 years of service received a 15-year Challenge Coin.
There were no employees with 20 years of service this year. Twenty-five-, 30-, and 35-year recipients received awards engraved with their names and years of service.
The four employees with 35 years of service received special plaques engraved with some of their fondest memories at the department.
“We are very proud of our employees and their dedication to this department,” Chief Cumbey Gaines said. “These men and women put their lives on the line every day to protect the citizens of Murfreesboro and they deserve to be honored.”
