MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- Fire caused heavy damage to a mobile home about 4:15 p.m. Monday on Old Woodbury Highway, said Chief Larry Farley, of the Rutherford County Fire Rescue Department.

Firefighters from Rutherford County Fire Rescue and Kittrell and Lascassas volunteer fire departments responded to the home where they found light smoke coming from the residence, he said.

“The residence was a mobile home that had been remodeled and additions were also added on,” Farley said in a press release. “This made it very difficult to find hidden hot spots.”

Fire caused the center of the home to cave in, resulting in heavy damage. Firefighters were on the scene about three hours battling the blaze and monitoring hot spots.

Officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The American Red Cross responded to help the family.
