Films from Land of Rising Sun to be screened | MTSU, Japanese Film Week, Japanese, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, Movies, Sakura Season, Cherry Blossom

MTSU’s Japanese Film Week, presented by the university’s Advanced Japanese course in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, will feature three free subtitled movies for the community as part of the 2013 Sakura, or Cherry Blossom, Season celebration.

The movies include:
• “The Place Promised in Our Early Days” on Monday, Feb. 25, in Room 103 of the John Bragg Mass Communication Building.
• “Mental” on Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Room S330 of the Business and Aerospace Building.
• “Letters from Iwo Jima” on Friday, March 1, in Room 103 of the Bragg Building.

Sponsored by the Japan Foundation, the Japan Consulate in Nashville and MTSU’s Office of International Affairs, each presentation will begin promptly at 4:30 p.m. Discussions will be held before and after each film, and refreshments also will be provided.

All movies in the series have English subtitles. There is no admission charge, and each is open to the public.

MTSU’s Japanese Film Week is a 2013 Sakura Season event leading up to the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival, which is scheduled for Saturday, March 23. More information on the city’s festival is available here.
