FEMA, SBA teams review tornado damage

TMP Reports

Agents of the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Individual Assistance and Public Assistance Teams and the Small Business Administration are doing assessments of the damage done by the EF 4 tornado that struck Rutherford County and Murfreesboro Friday.

They will continue assessments for the next several days, reported Emergency Management Agency spokesman Randy White.

The Help Line number has changed to 890-2957. Anyone affected by the storm that needs assistance from volunteers should call the above number.

“We have over 2000 volunteers offering to assist you,” White reported. “The Red Cross will send volunteers to your location.”

The City and County Solid Waste, Highway Department, and several other mutual aid departments from the area will handle trash and debris removal.

The County Landfill has taken in over 3,534 tons of debris as of Tuesday, White reported. They are weighing four trucks per minute.

The Florence Road facility has taken in over 1,702 tons of trees and brush.

“We are asking again that residents please put yard waste and building materials in separate piles in their yards since the materials will be transported to two different disposal locations,” White reported. “We encourage residents and contractors to be patient. Crews will remove debris as soon as possible.”
