FBI agents and Murfreesboro Police detectives were questioning a suspect about a bank robbery Friday morning at SunTrust Bank on South Church Street, the police spokesman said.

Suspect Robert Westbrook, 50, of Regal Inn was identified as a suspect based on the on scene investigation, said spokesman Kyle Evans.

Police responded about 8:36 a.m. to the bank at South Church Street and Middle Tennessee Boulevard for a robber who gave a teller a note.

“We’re not discussing the contents of the note at this time,” Evans said.

No firearm was displayed during the robbery, he said. “I do not know how much money he got or how much was recovered,” Evans said.

It was unknown if customers were inside the bank at the time of the robbery. The bank was closed while detectives processed the scene for evidence but has since reopened.
