A father accused of abducting his 4-year-old daughter in February from his Georgia home before crashing in Rutherford County was indicted by the Rutherford County grand jury.
Jerry John Norman Jones, 52, of Commerce, Ga., was indicted on felony charges of aggravated child abuse and neglect under age 8, child abuse and neglect under age 6, felony evading arrest, four counts of reckless endangerment and theft.
Sheriff’s Cpl. Andrew Caravello heard an Amber Alert issued about the father driving a white Ford Taurus. While patrolling, Caravello spotted a man spray painting a white Taurus black at a Smyrna car wash. When he stopped, the driver drove away.
Caravello pursued Jones through a construction zone where employees were working before crashing into another car. Caravello located 4-year-old Madison Kerry inside the car not wearing a seat belt.
In an unrelated case, Jacob Peachey, 20, of 3327 Mullins Court, was indicted on 12 counts; six of aggravated kidnapping, five on aggravated robbery and one on aggravated assault.
He was accused of robbing and kidnapping six people April 2 on Westfield Drive.
Another set of indictments charged Joey Dee Webb, 39, of Carmen Avenue was indicted on charges of child rape, attempted child rape and aggravated sexual battery.
Murfreesboro Police Detective Wayne Lawson accused Webb of having sexual contact with a pre-teen girl.
They were among 125 cases indicted by the grand jury during its July term. Defendants listed above and below received copies of their indictments Monday from Circuit Court Judge James Clayton on the fourth floor of the Judicial Building.
