Residents of all ages are invited to enjoy a night of family friendly backpacking and outdoor activities Saturday, Sept. 21, at Barfield Crescent Backcountry Campground in Murfreesboro.
The event, sponsored by the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department, begins with an easy one-mile hike to the campground. Check-in will be from 4:30 p.m. till 6 p.m. at the Wilderness Station. Once there, park stiff will be on hand to help attendees set up and settle in at the Barfield Crescent Backcountry Campground.
Park officials have various activities planned throughout the night for residents who want to participate. For those looking to relax, a campfire will be set up for most of the night as well.
Some of the activities planned for the event include guided night hikes, owl prowls, and children’s activities and games.
Two- to four-person tents, ground cloths, sleeping pads and backpacks are available by request when registering to camp.
Interested residents who want to attend the Wilderness Awareness Workshop will need to register before the day of the event.
The fee for the campout is $10 for adults, $5 for children between the ages of 5 and 12, and for those 4 years old and younger, the event is free with a paying adult.
Hotdogs, a campfire pita pizza, chips, drinks and dessert will also be served.
