A fallen Williamson County hero killed in Vietnam 42 years ago will be memorialized on Saturday, June 30, with a bridge dedication.

The public is invited to participate in the service honoring U.S. Army Specialist Fifth-Class Danny Gale Martin at 2 p.m. near the intersection of Carter’s Creek Pike and Perkins Road on State Route 246 near Franklin, Tenn.
Growing up on a farm, Martin volunteered for service following graduation from Franklin High School in 1967. After serving one tour of duty, he volunteered for a second in June 1969. He was fatally injured on Dec. 1, 1969, in Khanh Hoa, South Vietnam at the age of 21.
Military and public officials are scheduled to offer remarks in honoring Martin’s memory and his bravery while in uniform.
