Fairy Bell Johnson Compton, age 75, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2012 at her residence.

She was a native of Rutherford County. She was a loving wife and loving mother and grandmother. Fairy was a member of the Wards Grove Baptist Church. She retired from General Electric and was a homemaker.

Fairy was preceded in death by her husband, Wilma Bryant Compton; father,  Andy Johnson and Jenny Bell George Johnson; sons, David Mark Compton and Timothy Joseph Compton; grandchild, Rachel Dawn Hanberry Swett; sisters, Lucille Hale and Flossie Jean Shipp; brothers, Hewey, Glasco, Amon, Bevis, Houston, Johnnie and A. C. Johnson. She is survived by one son, William Bryant Compton; two daughters, Pamela Jean (Daniel) Scuderi and Barbara (Ricky) Helton; sister, Lorene Whitmoore; grandchildren, Chuck Lovvorn, Kipp Compton, Taylor Helton, Allison Helton, Derrick Helton and Tiffany Scott; and five great-grandchildren.

A chapel service will be held at 11 am on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home with Darryl Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as active pallbearers.
