Exchange Club donates 'Constitution' to schools

TMP Reports

As part of the observance of U.S. Constitution Day, Sept. 17, 2009, the Evening Exchange Club of Murfreesboro has distributed materials to Blackman High School and the Tennessee Technology Center.

This includes a packet of four items titled, A More Perfect Union. It consists of a DVD "A More Perfect Union - America Becomes a Nation" (two-hour motion picture), which is the first comprehensive recreation of those stirring, heated debates during the sweltering summer of 1787.

Filmed on location at Independence Hall, Williamsburg, Va., and other historical sites, it dramatically chronicles how America became a nation and those underlying principles that guard our freedoms today.

This is the most ambitious film ever made covering the happenings at the Constitutional Convention and is "...of exceptional merit."

In addition to the DVD, there is a poster which contains The Constitution of the United States, the Bill of Rights, and Amendments 11-27. On the back side is printed The Constitution at a Glance (an easy reference to the Constitution). It measures 22 inches by 34 inches. The other two items are a Teacher's Study Guide and a pocket U. S. Constitution.

This presentation is a part of the Exchange Clubs Americanism project in which all clubs throughout the country participate.

The Evening Exchange Club meets weekly on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. at Through the Grapevine. The current president is Donna Gibson who can be reached at stevedonna1624@hotmail.com.
