Ex-husband accused of stabbing wife

TMP Reports

An estranged wife suffered stab wounds after her ex-husband allegedly broke into her home and beat her early Wednesday, Murfreesboro Police reported.

Victim Jamie Tate of Chariot Drive was treated at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, Officer Trevor Young reported.

Tate was sleeping when her ex-husband, whom she separated from in November, began beating her on her head, Young reported.

“When she looked up, (her ex-husband) was standing over her holding three separate knives,” Young reported. “He then put the knives in his back pocket and drug her into the living room. Ms. Tate was screaming for help and trying to pull away.”

She accused him of forcing her onto the couch where he held a knife to her throat, the officer reported. He told her to be quiet.

“He was then asking her who she was seeing and if she didn’t answer the way he wanted, he would hit her with the handle of the knife and would swing the knife over her,” Young reported. “She attempted to fight back and at some point, he stabbed her in the left leg.”

A neighbor hearing the screams came to check on her. Tate answered the door crying but her ex-husband told the neighbor to leave. The neighbor’s boyfriend got a shotgun and threatened to shoot the ex-husband if he didn’t leave. The ex-husband left.

After he left, police found a credit card in the ex-husband’s name and a sword and knife on the washer.

Warrants were obtained for the ex-husband who has not been arrested yet.
