Eugene Salyer, age 84, of Murfreesboro, passed away on January 8, 2013 at his residence.
He was a native of Salyersville, Kentucky but currently resided in Rutherford County. Eugene was a truck driver. He started the family’s tradition in the trucking industry in 1956. Eugene loved listening to his bluegrass music and telling his famous stories to his grandchildren.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil Salyer and Rose McCarty; wife, Anna Salyer; and grandson, Brandon Bivins. He is survived by his sons, Robert Salyer and William Salyer both of Murfreesboro; daughter, Jennifer Bivins of Murfreesboro; brothers, Jim Salyer and Carl Salyer; sisters, Christine Tyre, Etta Lowe and Arlene Jehuger; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Chapel service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Jennings and Ayers Chapel with Pastor Paul Anderson. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
