Eugene Gordon Pitts passed away on February 9, 2010 at his residence. He was a native of Rutherford County and lived in Davidson County most of his life. He was a member of the Baptist church and served in the U.S. Marine Corp.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Dave Irving Pitts and Emma Matilda Simpson Pitts, wife, Kathleen Todd Pitts of Murfreesboro, TN, and grandson, Michael Todd Pitts, five brothers and four sisters. He is survived by one son, Phillip (Linda) Gordon Pitts of Franklin, TN; three daughters, Kathy (Kerry) Ann Appleby of LaVergne, TN, Carolyn Jean Begley of Smyrna, TN, and Christine (Jerry)Reed of Murfreesboro, TN; and brother, Douglas (Faye)Rambo Pitts of Brentwood, TN, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2000 Charlotte Ave., Nashville, TN 37203-2003.
A memorial service for Eugene will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home with Gary Dyer officiating. 820 S. Church St, Murfreesboro, TN. 37130. (615) 893-2422
