Esther Alene Hendrix Brown, age 93, of Murfreesboro, born on August 14, 1919 in the Salem Community at the head of Overall Creek, passed away on Oct. 22, 2012 at Northside Health Care.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County and a member of Temple Baptist Church. Alene was a caregiver.

Alene was preceded in death by her parents; Richard Aaron Hendrix and Tidy Ann Maupin Hendrix; husband, Howard Smith Brown, Sr.; brothers, Richard Hendrix and Dave Hendrix; and sisters, Jenny Lou Travis, Mary Sue Francis, Tidy Rowland, Jessie Lynch, Grace Hooper, Ruth Vincion and O’Dell Leathers. She is survived by her children, Johnny Brown of Rockvale, Howard (Martha) Brown of Murfreesboro, Sandra (David) Schlichter of Ft. Collins, Colo.; also daughter and special caregiver, Carol (Tom) Millard of Murfreesboro; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Chapel service will be held at Jennings and Ayers Chapel on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. John Hill officiating. Burial will follow at Carlton Cemetery with Jerry Brown, Jeff Brown, Josh Brown, Gary Brown, T. Paul Climer, Brandon Climer, Glenn Climer and David Baker as active pallbearers.
