A new screen-printing business has been launched for musicians by musicians.

Music City Merch, which is actually based in Murfreesboro, specializes in artist and band merchandising and the printing of custom T-shirts for any band, business, organization, school or church.

John Salaway, David Penuel and Christopher Faulk recently launched the company.

“When bands are looking for T-shirts, they normally don’t know where to go, so they end up ordering online and paying too much for what they get,” Salaway said. “Since I am an artist (musician), I am here to help fellow artists, the same way I am in all of my other business endeavors.”

Salaway is a former member of The Last Straw and owner of Def Kat Music, an independent record label and promotion company.

Prior to launching Music City Merch, Penuel was responsible for T-shirts and merchandise for country artist Shooter Jennings.

One of the company’s goals is to produce quality T-shirts at the best price possible without having to buy mass quantities.

Music City Merch has also launched its own T-shirt line called Revolution Tees.

Salaway said the T-shirts have positive or humorous messages “that help spread a peaceful and positive message in this world that is surrounded by chaos.

“We have local artists and designers working with us on the Revolution Tees so we end up supporting the local music and artistic community while creating a shirt that people all over the world would like to buy,” he said.

For more information or to order T-shirts, visit www.musiccitymerch.com or send an e-mail to orders@musiccitymerch.com. Pricing is based on style, colors and design.

Music City Merch is hosting Best of the Boro: End of Summer Jam, a show featuring some of the best Murfreesboro-based bands at 3rd & Lindsley Bar & Grill at 818 3rd Ave. in Nashville on Aug. 22. Show starts at 10 p.m.

The lineup includes The Homegrown Band, Penguin and another yet to be confirmed band. The night will conclude with a super jam featuring some of the best Murfreesboro musicians.
