'Erin Edgemon:' Looking for a special battery? New firm can meet need

A one-stop shop for all retail and commercial customers battery needs is set to open at 535 N. Thompson Lane near The Chop House on June 9.

Local entrepreneur Dan Nightingale is opening the Murfreesboro franchise of Batteries Plus, the nation’s largest chain focused on the $24 billion battery category serving both retail and commercial customers, stated the company.

Batteries Plus will carry a comprehensive selection of batteries, battery-related products and technical support. Products include thousands of batteries for thousands of items, ranging from common items like watches, cameras and cordless telephones to larynx batteries for electronic voice boxes, solar landscape lights, talking books for children and keyless entry door locks at major hotels.

The Murfreesboro store will provide the equipment and expertise on-site to assemble, test, condition and re-build custom battery packs for rechargeable household and commercial products, stated the company. Batteries Plus also offers custom in-house battery assembly, rebuilds battery packs and recycles lead-based batteries. The store will also serve the senior citizen community by offering home service calls to install batteries in medical equipment such as wheel chairs.

"In an age of increased portability, our society is dependent on batteries," said Dan Nightingale, owner of the Murfreesboro Batteries Plus store. “Batteries Plus provides unmatched service and expertise, along with batteries of virtually every shape and size.

“I look forward to meeting the ongoing battery needs of the Murfreesboro community, from the consumer seeking simple batteries for common items or automotive needs, to the business owner or large entity needing ongoing, more complex battery services,” he said.

The grand opening event for The Vine, a private event facility, is slated for May 24 with dance lessons offered from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and an open dance from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Music City Swing Band will perform. The first 50 guests are free. Admission is $5.

The Vine will serve as a second location for the Carriage Lane Reception House, said owner Sharon Petty. The 2,400-square-foot event space can accommodate groups as large as 250.

The space is ideal for dance events, receptions, business meetings, music showcases, auctions and garage sales, she said.

Petty originally hoped to have The Vine open by May 3 to coincide with the Main Street JazzFest.
