Erin Edgemon: Liquidation Outlet to open: Oct. 6 date set for Newk's Express

ERIN EDGEMON, Sept. 28, 2008

An outlet store that sells returned, overstocked and box-damaged merchandise from a major discount store chain is set to open in Murfreesboro in mid-October, confirmed the owner.

Liquidation Outlet has an exclusive contract to sell the merchandise in the Murfreesboro store, said Rusty Bonds, who owns the store with his wife, Jessica.

The Bonds have owned and operated a successful Liquidation Outlet in Loxley, Ala., for six years. They recently moved to Murfreesboro after deciding to move to Middle Tennessee from southern Alabama.

“We figured it would be a good place,” Rusty said of the city.

Liquidation Outlet’s merchandise, which is normally still brand new, is sold at up to 50 percent off the retail price.

Liquidation Outlet is located at 1020 W. College St., near the corner of Medical Center Parkway and Broad St., behind Demo’s. Hours of operation will be 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Hours could be extended in the future.

Rusty Bonds calls the store a “shopping reformation.”

“Everything is priced where you buy it whether you need it or not because it is so cheap,” he said.

The shelves are stocked with new merchandise every day. Liquidation Outlet receives three to four truckloads of new merchandise every week.

“We never know what we are going to receive,” Bonds said.

Merchandise ranges from patio furniture and LCD televisions to laundry detergent and fishing reels.

Liquidation Outlet has a return policy for defective merchandise.
