High school theater teacher Kim Boyd-Hughes is preparing to open Bungalow, an eclectic antique boutique, in downtown Murfreesboro this September.
“It has always been a dream to open my own shop,” she said.
Bungalow is set to open over Labor Day weekend at 308 E. Vine St., next door to Bella Vista Fabrics. Hours of operation will be Tuesday-Saturday10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or by appointment.
Boyd-Hughes, who teaches at La Vergne High School, has been collecting antiques as a side business for about eight years. She is a vendor at Walnut & Vine Antiques in Murfreesboro.
Besides antique furniture ranging from high-end French, shabby chic and English pieces, Bungalow will carry a unique mix of antique accessories as well as new gift items and home décor items.
Work from local artists, handmade soaps and soy-based candles also will be for sale at Bungalow.
Boyd-Hughes said she has taken special care to carry one-of-a-kind items that can’t be found in another Murfreesboro shop.
“I think it is something that Murfreesboro is really ready for,” she said of Bungalow. “I think everyone will be able to find something there that they will like because we will have such a wide variety of items.”
