Nashville-based Cheeseburger Charley’s is expected to make its introduction to Murfreesboro by mid-March.
Franchise owner Ken Mathis said he is preparing to open five of the restaurants in Rutherford County.
The first will be located at 206 N. Thompson Lane in a small retail center located near the Wal-Mart Super Center on Old Fort Parkway.
“We thought it was a unique concept,” Mathis said of why he wanted to open the restaurants, “and we thought we would take a cheeseburger concept where there are conscious eaters.”
Cheeseburger Charley’s isn’t your typical burger joint. In addition to the traditional beef cheeseburgers, Cheeseburger Charley’s offers healthy alternatives like a turkey burger, salmon burger, spicy black bean burger, beefalo burger and a veggie burger.
The spicy black bean, beefalo and veggie burgers all have less than five grams of fat.
Rounding out the Cheeseburger Charley’s menu are old fashioned, hand-dipped milkshakes and malts and French fries.
Mathis said he is locating his restaurants where healthy eaters are likely to travel. The first Murfreesboro location is next door to a Subway restaurant and across the street from the YMCA, he pointed out. The next Murfreesboro location will likely be located in a new strip center near the State Farm Operations Center on Memorial Boulevard.
Mathis also is looking at opening locations off Franklin Road and in Smyrna and La Vergne.
Burger lovers should expect grand opening specials and tastings at community functions.
Mathis said he wants everyone to think Cheeseburger Charley’s offers the “best burger in town.”
Currently, there are seven Cheeseburger Charley’s locations in the Nashville area.
