Back Yard Burgers is coming back to Murfreesboro.

The Nashville-based restaurant chain is planning to open the new restaurant at 1432 Memorial Blvd., in the former location of Couva Calypso Café.

Back Yard Burger formerly had a location near Stones River Mall, which closed more than two years ago

“Murfreesboro is a great town,” said Mickey Skelton, vice president of franchise development and real estate for Back Yard Burgers. “We have been working on (opening a store) there for a year or year and a half.”

Construction is underway at the new location, and it is expected to be ready to open by mid-August, he said.

Back Yard Burgers’ menu includes gourmet burgers made from 100 percent Black Angus and cooked on a charrock rather than a flat grill. The menu also features a variety of specialty burgers, chicken sandwiches, veggie burgers, hot dogs and salads.

“We have a little something for everybody,” Skelton said.

Back Yard Burgers was founded in 1987 in Cleveland, Miss. and operates about 150 restaurants in 20 states. Restaurants are located in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Angela’s Gifts & More has relocated from 1644 Memorial Blvd., near Hastings to 2898C S. Church St., next door to Mills Family Pharmacy.

The store that is now just called Angela’s Gifts opened Friday. A grand opening is slated for June 24. Angela’s Gifts & More closed in early April.

“Our business was not what it was and when we began to look for a new space this side of town looked to be promising,” owner Angela Hensley said of the move across town.

Angela’s Gifts and More has been in operation for six years in Murfreesboro and 15 years before that in Lebanon.

Prior to opening, Hensley said she was looking forward to opening her new store.

“It will be a lot of new things and a lot of the consistent sellers that I have always carried,” she said.

The store will continue to make balloon bouquets, do deliveries and gift wrap. It will also still carry Precious Moments, Dept. 56, Yankee Candles, Fenton Art Glass and jewelry and accessories for ladies.

New items include wedding invitations and accessories, handmade items for babies and memorial/bereavement gifts.

Angela’s Gifts also is now the largest retailer of Marion Health Greeting Cards in the state.

Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Call the store at 896-4438.

Hope this BYB is cleaner than the old one which was nasty every time we went in, no matter time of day or night.
Still not a good location north of where students turn off to MT campus.

Cell towers are ugly.

ItsGood...I had the same experience. The place was always nasty and even though they would cook me a hamburger 'fresh' it was always cold and dry by the time it got to the table. How does that happen?

I worked for G. Ron...great guy! I wish him a much deserved retirement. Hey G. Ron...I will watch to see you riding with Paul Sr. and Paul Jr., the Tuetel's!

I always enjoyed BYB when they were here. Never went in though, always the drive thru.

I'll tell you one place I was GREATLY disappointed in though when I went for my first time a couple of weeks ago.....and that is the Salsarita restaurant. The place was very untidy, 85% of the tables still had messy trays and trash on them, those that did not had crumbs and wet spots on them.

The food was lukewarm at best, we ordered chips and queso with our meal, the queso had NO taste and the chips were all broken into pieces. What a disaster! I don't plan to go there again....and yes I did log my complaint with the company from the information on the receipt. I've received no response.....as expected.

Oh yes, I forgot...the cashier was standing at the register sending text messages on her phone.

Good Lord......!

I've never been to BYB, but I'd be interested in testing out the veggie burger. The only other veggie burger I've had in town was from Burger King.... and I'm pretty sure it had been sitting in the warmer for several days judging by how rock hard it was (completely inedible). I have heard Red Robin has a good veggie burger though.

the boro bar and grill has the best veggie burger EVER!
