All auto emissions testing centers in the following Middle Tennessee counties will be closed on Monday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday: Sumner, Rutherford, Wilson and Williamson.

All stations will resume testing on Wednesday, Dec. 26 at their regular scheduled hours. Additionally, all Middle Tennessee auto emissions testing centers will close from 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31 through Tuesday, Jan. 1 for the New Year’s holiday, resuming on Wednesday, Jan. 2 at their regular scheduled hours.

“Planning ahead helps keep waiting to a minimum,” said Prentiss Taylor, program manager for the Tennessee vehicle inspection program administered by Envirotest Systems. “It’s a good idea to take vehicles mid-week when testing volume is usually light and to avoid testing in the final days of the month.”

Envirotest, the world’s leading provider of vehicle emissions testing and inspection, has a contract with the State of Tennessee to test autos for the improvement of air quality in four Middle Tennessee counties as required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to meet the Clean Air Act.

“Auto emissions testing has proven effective in helping Tennessee improve its air quality,” Taylor said.

Normal hours of operation and testing center locations for Middle Tennessee:
• Rutherford County (Murfreesboro), Sumner County (Gallatin), Williamson County (Franklin) and Wilson County (Lebanon) are open Monday and Tuesday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closed Sunday.
• Smyrna Station is open Monday and Tuesday 7 a.m.to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
