Emily Anne Parker Rich, age 40 died Feb. 6, 2013, after a seven-year courageous battle with breast cancer.
She was a mother, a daughter and a friend to all that knew her. She was a lifelong resident of Rutherford County and the daughter of the late James Benjamin Parker and Georgia Anne Parker born on Feb. 27, 1972. She loved life and occupied herself with many activities but none she loved more than being a mom.
She leaves behind her husband of 21 years, Rex Alan Rich, children, Justin Alan Rich and Layna Anne Rich, her mom and primary care giver, Georgia Anne Brimm Parker, all of Murfreesboro, her brothers, Terry Parker and wife Lynn of Woodbury, Timothy Parker of Murfreesboro, her mother-in-law, Lila Rich, sometimes referred to as her second mom. Because of her love for children and life she also leaves a surrogate child, Emily Caroline Creason of Franklin. Cousin, Larie Slayton who assisted greatly with the loving care during her last week of life. She has 3 aunts, 1 uncle, lots of cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as all the rich family, step mother, Joyce Parker of Murfreesboro, and step sisters, Rhonda Sampson and Renee Hoover both of Woodbury. She also leaves behind her near life long friends, Dee Dee Wilson, Shelly Nelms, all her soccer families from both Strikers 95 and Oakland Girls Soccer, all the friends and neighbors in the Lascassas community and the school friends she grew up with at Lascassas and Oakland schools.
This mulititude of people have given their support and comfort to Emily many times during this extended battle and the family will forever be grateful to them. We will always have her courage, her faith and the memory of her SMILING FACE to bring us comfort.
Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 until 5:00pm Saturday with a Celebration of her life at 5:00pm Saturday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel with Mike Ingle officiating.
