Ellen Rose Barrett Garrett, age 85, of Murfreesboro, passed away Sept. 16, 2011 at Community Care of Rutherford County.

Rose was a dietitian with the Alvin C York VA Medical Center in Murfreesboro. She was a native and lifelong resident of Rutherford County.

Rose was preceded in death by her first husband, J.B. Barrett and then by Tom Garrett; parents, Nat and Amanda Edwards. She is survived by one son, Joe (Carroll) Kennedy Barrett of Readyville; one daughter, Lois (Joel) Marie Cates of McMinnville; three brothers, Ed Edwards, Henry Edwards and Frank Edwards; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

A chapel service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2011 at Jennings & Ayers with A.D. Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will serve as active pallbearers.
