Edward M. “Ed” Janes, age 87, of Smyrna, formerly of Hot Spring, Ark., died Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012.

He was a native of Horatio, Ark., and was the son of the late, Bud and Dorothy Coffman Janes. Mr. Janes was a 50-year member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church and owner of Ed Janes Appliance Company in Hot Springs. He was a longtime member of Masonic Lodge 419, and Lion’s Club in Hot Springs. Mr. Janes was an avid traveler after retirement and a faithful member of Good Sam’s Camping Events.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Glenna Benge Janes; children, Edward A. Janes and wife Patti of Fort Smith, Ark., Karen Carey and husband Dane of La Vergne, Debbie Kirk of Smyrna; grandchildren, Stephani Morrison of Fort Smith, Shawn Janes of Waldron, Ark., Brooklin Janes of Hot Springs, Kelly Lee of Smyrna, Jeffrey Carey Chris Carey, David Carey all of La Vergne, Cory Kirk of Texas, Matthew Kirk of Smyrna, and Five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church.
