Edgar Pope Jr., age 76, of Antioch, passed away Sept. 3, 2011.

His stated goal in life was to be the best husband and father he could be. Having surpassed that goal he is reaping his reward.

He was a member of Burnett Chapel Church of Christ and Pipefitter Local 572. Preceded in death by the mother of his children, Jane Richards Pope. Survived by his wife of 26 years, Peggy Robinson Pope; sons, Billy (Dawn), Eddie (Amy), Eric, Sam (Traci) Pope; daughters, Pam (Walter) Demonbreun and Amanda Pope; step-children, Dave (Sharon) Robinson and Janet (Dennis) Johnson; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; brothers, Dorris Pope and Clarence Nipper.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Chapel, Smyrna. Joey Spann and Russ King will officiate. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Family will serve as pallbearers.
