In the Western World Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs on or immediately after March 21.
If the full moon occurs on Sunday, then Easter occurs on the following Sunday. The March 21 date, refers to the Vernal equinox, although the Vernal equinox does not always coincide exactly with March 21, this date has traditionally been used in determining the Easter date.
The evolution of this formula used to determine Easter goes back to the beginnings of Christianity, which would make for a very interesting article in itself, but after-all, the headline reads "Easter Weather In Nashville."
This year Easter will fall on April 4, for only the 5th time since weather records began in Nashville back in 1871. The last time Easter fell on April 4 was in 1999. On that Easter Sunday the high temperature was 76 degrees and the low was 58 degrees. Thunderstorms that day produced 0.27 inches of rainfall.
The earliest that Easter has occurred since 1871 was on March 23 and it has only happened twice. The most recent was in 2008 and also back in 1913.
The latest that Easter has occurred since 1871 was on April 25 and it has only happened twice. The most recent was in 1943 and also back in 1886.

The warmest temperature ever on Easter Sunday occurred on March 27, 1910 when the high was 86 degrees.
The coldest temperature ever on Easter Sunday occurred on April 8, 2007 when the low was 23 degrees.
The most snowfall on Easter Sunday occurred on March 24, 1940 when 4.5 inches fell.
Other Easters with snowfall are: March 26th 1978 with a trace, March 28, 1948 with a trace, and March 25, 1894 with a trace.
The wettest Easter Sunday occurred on March 27, 1932 when 1.87 inches of rain fell.
Thunderstorms have occurred on several Easters with the most recent being April 20, 2003. The windiest Easter Sunday occurred on April 6, 1958 when the average wind speed for the day was 16.4 mph.
