Michelle, did you mean between N. Rutherford Blvd. and Twin Oak Drive? I can tell you my reaction to the cluster of apartments called The Grove Apartments going up on Halls Hill Pike between Greenland and Woods Edge (or View) Road (just before Twin Oaks). Horror. Sure they're obviously widening the road there also, but this is college housing. For each apartment there's going to be at least three vehicles coming out of Journey. Hundreds of cars backing up what used to be a relatively quiet road leading into Greenland. I predict quite a bit of car accidents and property damage. Seeing how the walkways from The Grove Apts are open to Woods View, I predict keg parties and lines of cars parked on Woods Edge Rd.
I honestly cannot wait for the housing prices to rise again to be able to sell my home in the Eastwoods subdivision between Twin Oaks and Woods Edge roads. Street signs, mailboxes, fire hydrants (twice in one location!), and pets are continuously being struck by cars in Eastwoods. The city needs to get with it and start putting up no parking or one side of the street parking signs in Eastwoods alone.
The city should require The Grove builders to erect fencing between those walkways and Woods View and it would be wonderful if the city forced Ole South properties to finish clearing up the mound of dirt and rock fill in the middle of Catawba. Disastrous.
Anyway.... that's what the current residents of E. Main St. have ahead of them for comparison. Just round the corner to Greenland/Halls Hill Pike and take a look see. If those apartments happen, I would hope they are "only" for regular citizens and not college attractions because many homeowners are going to find themselves displaced and in need of apartment housing.
I'm done venting. Anyone want to trade homes? lol
